Therapist Spotlight: Reyna Choi, LLMSW

Reyna Choi MSW

Reyna first became interested in pursuing Social Work in undergrad while studying Psychology and Public Health. In Psychology, she learned about how things happen and affect us in our individual environment, while in Public Health, she learned that many things happen outside of our control. Social Work and therapy seemed like the perfect middle ground to help with the things that happen both in our individual environments and the things that our out of our control. Reyna also grew up in a low-income immigrant family, so she understands how difficult and complex life can be and how we all could use some support!

Reyna works with all populations, but has a special interest in working with couples, children, and individuals dealing with conflict, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

Reyna is of the opinion that therapy is beneficial for everyone. Particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, social norms have undergone significant changes. Individuals now feel reluctant to turn to friends and family for emotional support due to uncertainties surrounding their availability. Communicating personal struggles to those close to us has also become challenging. Engaging with a therapist who offers reliability, consistency, evidence-based practices, and undivided attention can provide unique assistance that surpasses what friends and family can offer.

Before coming into your first session with her, Reyna would like her clients to know that they should come as they are! Therapy is a place where you can be your most vulnerable self, so if you need to grab something to snack on during the session, that's ok! She would also like her clients to know that therapy is a collaboration. You will work together to find solutions to problems you are experiencing. Reyna will give you tools to help you to navigate your life experiences, while also being there to support and empower you to reach your goals.

Outside of work, Reyna enjoys crocheting, reading Agatha Christie books, writing and sending cards to friends, playing with her beloved cats, and playing video games.
