How to Never Stop Dating Your Partner

Loving intentionally is a central part of keeping your relationship fulfilling – even after multiple anniversaries! Continuously dating your partner keeps things exciting, making the “honeymoon period” extend long past your first encounters. This intentionality also deepens your connection, improves communication, and allows for more quality time.

Here are some ways to keep dating your partner.

  1. Prioritize quality time.

    • Even though you may enjoy each other’s presence while you sit next to one another and scroll on your phones, quality time is an elevation of time with one another. It’s time with and focused on each other where you give each other your undivided attention. It’s time with quality.

    • What does quality time look like? Maybe it’s a classic dinner date, a hike, or a night snuggled up watching a movie as you have a deep conversation. Make sure that there’s an equitable division of planning these date nights and that they’re thoughtfully spent with one another.

  2. Keep flirting!

    • Whether it’s small surprise notes, physical affection like cuddling, or compliments, think of the things that gave you butterflies when you first started dating. Make sure to incorporate these continuously, even the things that you haven’t done in a while. What makes you feel that “spark”?

  3. Stay curious and honest.

    • Make sure that you keep expressing empathy for your partner: tell them you love them, identify what you appreciate about them, and share your concerns constructively with them. Ask questions about their changing interests, worries, and priorities. Stay curious about your partner’s thoughts as you grow alongside one another!

If these seem daunting, consider inviting your partner to have a conversation. Mutual buy-in, effort, and intention result in the strong prioritization of your relationship to keep your love fun and long lasting!
